It even helps you organize and label your recordings, for easier navigation of your personal video library. The D-R4 can record to different kinds of discs for different jobs. For recordings you want to keep forever, use permanent, write-once DVDs. These discs can't be erased, so you'll never accidentally record over something you wanted to save. For shows you want to watch once or twice and then delete, you can use rewriteable, erasable DVDs. Using a type of rewritable disc known as DVD-RAM, you can take advantage of some handy capabilities similar to those found on hard drive-based digital video recorders. I purchased this a few months ago for a secondary TV set. I use this only for playback of tapes and DVDs.
The playback of VHS tapes is average to below average (tolerable for me). Below average playback is standard nowadays with VCRs. Finding a good VCR is difficult.

Excellent! I love using the Toshiba SD-V296 DVD Player / VCR Combo, it is so easy to use, and i have no issues with skipping. All my movies do well on here and I love the price. Perfect for the bedroom, or even a dorm room. Loads quicky and easily I would recommend this to anyone.
