Pros Compass Warranty 3Yrs! Xtra Strong Mount Sexy Picks up with good warning time
Cons Screen is a LITTLE glare'ish Falses sometimes, but hey...Menu Options are Clear

I will first start by saying that I have never used any V1's or Escorts or Bel's- I am just knowledgable on them. The one radar detector that I DID own was a Cobra 9985 (9930). Pros Great user interface. Ka band signal id. Price.
Cons Size. A Passport 8500 is about 30% slimmer. 
Recommended it? Yes

This is my 2nd detector from Whistler. The 1st was good, but the XTR-690SE is amazing. The ability to see the Ka band frequency is invaluable. Being able to know if the signal is false or a real threat is a savior.  Also, the flashing lights on top are attention grabbers, too.
