Pros Many inputs, 7.1 surround, TrueHD and DTS-MA decoding, and the $300 price tag
Cons Does not upconvert SD video sources to HDMI.  Menu system can be frustrating.

I had been using a Sony STRDE845 for the last 8 years. While that receiver served me very well, it was time to upgrade to a unit that had HDMI and could decode HD sound. I found it in the 820. Pros Price, sound quality is decent
Cons Difficult to adjust, almost all audio inputs require video signal to work
Recommended it? Yes

So I finally found some speakers that fit the room I plan on setting this whole system in, as well as a separate self-powered amplified sub woofer. I also have a modest-sized HDTV to complete the visual part of the set up. There's still something missing...
