Pros Sturdy construction, easy to follow on-screen menu
Cons no noticeable video improvements through HDMI, annoying pops from optical audio connection

I currently own DVP-NS975V unit which has been a good universal player except for its known firmware bugs (i.e. sudden tray-lock and very slow responses) in its earlier production run. Good-Great picture with HDMI but... Sony cheaped out a little for an ES piece. All the new silver ES pieces to this point had the new embossed SONY logo on the front panel which was very cool. Pros Sharp picture, great sound, swivel screen, two headphone jacks
Cons Touch controls on the LCD panel are difficult to use (find) in low light conditions.
Recommended it? Yes

I'm now on my third DVD player in about 5 years.  I hope this one lasts longer than the Mintek or Phillips that I've owned previously.  But at least we're off to a good start. This Sony FX930 is the best one I've had so far!
