Pros Small size. Good ergonomics. Screen on back. Still photos. Compact tapes & batteries.
Cons Expensive. MicroMV format may or may not equal MiniDV. Lens could be more wide-angle.
Recommended it? Yes

I wound up buying the new DCR-IP220 just before leaving for a vacation that included a few days visiting historical sites in the gloomy midwestern U.S. (Missouri and Illinois), and a week on sunny Grand Cayman in the Caribbean.

Overall, I'm pleased with the camcorder, but bear in mind... Read full review »

As a professed Sony Gadget Geek, I jumped all over this camera and pre purchased it before it was even available. I love this camera. I can take it on a trip and have 2MP digital video (60 min per tape) and 2MP digital pictures (saved to Sony's proprietary memory stick.) The software that comes... Read full review »

My last camera was a Sony MMV (coincidence) and is now about 7 years old.  When preparing to buy a new one I knew two things:  It needed to by HD and, 2) it needed to be small.  I tried to do extensive product reviews on the available models and their respective qualities.  I found that it appeared... Overpriced but underdelivered

Pros recording to 120G hard-drive, daylight video quality, Steady Shot, included software
Cons no viewfinder, LCD in sunlight, very noisy lowlight recording, no shoulder strap
Recommended it? No

I've purchased this camcorder as a replacement for the aging Sony DCRTRV18 mini DV which I've enjoyed for over 6 years. Before I've purchased DCRTRV18 I've tried similar Canon and JVC. Sony was the best and it made an obvious choice as a replacement candidate.

I'm using HDR-XR200V for... Read full review »
