Panasonics VDR-D300 DVD camcorder captures crisp, high-resolution digital video on convenient 8cm DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM discs. The DVD-RAM format allows non-linear editing right in the camcorder, and gives the greatest flexibility in re-recording. By recording directly to a blank DVD, you'll preserve the sharpness and color of the special events in your life, as beautifully as you remember them. The Leica lenses don't miss a detail and neither will you, with the 10x optical and 700x digital zoom. Preview your footage through the 2.7" LCD screen, then transfer images to a PC or digital camera through a USB port or SD slot. Your new DVDs will work in almost any DVD-RAM, DVD-R or DVD-RW player, so you can share those great moments as soon as they're recorded. Less

dvd sounds good

Pros It is small in size and weight. Good optical zoom.
Cons doesn't play on all DVD players. Difficult to get media to useable format.
Recommended it? No

i liked the idea of being able to record onto a media that was long lasting and didn't have to be messed with again. But there are still steps and you still have to do, so you still have to "mess with it". Before it can be played on a DVD player it has to be "finalized". The instructions are... Read full review »

Pros Simple, convienient, battery life, light, lcd playback
Cons Software, still photos
Recommended it? Yes

Wonderful camera. Low light is even ok sometimes. Easy to use, clear, well built and very light. Battery life is very good and holds the charge over sometime of non use (unlike quite a few other cameras)Software that comes with the camera is awful! made for people who can read minds - not clear how... byhbj200 May 4, 2006

Pros Excellent video quality, shoot-and-watch convenience, reliable
Cons DVD-RW formating and finalizing can take up to 10 minutes
Recommended it? Yes

The Panasonic VDR-D300 "Palmcorder" is a compact 3CCD camcorder that records videos to mini DVDs: 3" (8 cm) DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R. (Note that it cannot use the "plus" version of DVD+R/RW.) Thanks to the three separate 1/6" CCD image sensors inside, it shoots broadcast-quality videos and turns... Read full review »

After having a bad experience with a lesser brand of DVD-R camera, I decided to go with a long established brand and ended up purchasing the Panasonic VDR-D300 for our Toastmasters club. We've been very happy with it, but it wasn't exactly cheap ($599 plus tax from Fry's, then $120 for a five year... Read full review »
