After using and selling the Canon SD700 IS, I have purchased the Panasonic DMC-FX01. The FX01 is similar to the Canon SD700: it has compact design, large LCD and optical image stabilization. The Canon SD700 is slightly more compact, the Panasonic FX01 has a wide angle lens and sells for $100 less...

Pros
Take-it-all-in wide angle: point and click almost always gets a useable picture.
Cons
Relatively noisy (mostly chrominance), noticeable in large blowups. No zoom in movie mode.

Ease of use matters!
When it comes to cameras, it's easy to let your desire for perfection get in the way of letting you take as many pictures as you should. I ooh and ah over the gorgeous, near noiseless photos from my Digital Rebel SLR (also 6 megapixels). There I can save the RAW...
