A $100-cheaper alternative to the excellent Panasonic DMP-BD55, the Panasonic DMP-BD35 differs from it only slightly. It lacks the BD55's 7.1 analog audio out. But it works pretty well overall. I rec. one of these as a gift in Dec of 2009 from my wife.  When it works, it produces a great picture on our HD TV.  The problem is that some popular Blu-ray discs would not play on this player and I had to download and install new firmware from Sharp to get it to work even though the device was...
