MXL 990 Condenser Mic

Pros Very affordable mic with a bright, airy sound. Becoming more and more popularly used.
Cons Cannot be used unless you have 48V phantom power. Mainly captures higher frequencies.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this mic sometime back and it was packaged exactly as shown. It included the mic, shock mount, mic stand adaptor, and came in a plastic storage/carrying case. At under $70 I thought this would be a good purchase for my first condenser mic to add to my home recording studio.

Pros very nice sound.
Cons very sensitive on all sides. The trim on your mixer must be adjusted just right.
Recommended it? Yes

This is nowhere near the best microphone you can get, nor is it the worst. It's great for mostly studio applications, and some live recording instances as well. when you buy it, MAKE SURE YOUR MIXER HAS PHANTOM POWER. For it's price, it's definately one you should have in your mic selection. Read full review »
