I gave my sister and niece Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX webcams. I decided I wanted in on the fun, too. I'd read that lots of Windows cameras would work for Macs, which wasn't entirely correct. We decided to go on Skype, so that I could see my grandchildren the other 11 months, I am not in England. Len had an old webcam, and separate microphone. The first time we went 'live', my daughter told me that they could make the outline of us, but not much else.

Cons -Cord is quite short -Clamp doesn't hold webcam in place very well

The Logitech C310 HD Webcam has all you need to start using things like Skype and iChat. The microphone records pretty clear and it has an easy setup that just sits right on top of your monitor.
