Joggers, snowboarders, and other outdoor enthusiasts will delight in the Sony MDR-J20 headphones, as their contoured clips follow the curve of the ears to ensure a snug fit even when bouncing around. The headphones also feature a flexible ear hanger that reduces stress on the ear, along with an open-air design that lets in ambient sound without sacrificing the quality of the music. The latter function is particularly important when skateboarding or running, as users can listen for traffic noise and other audible threats. It's the audio, however, that matters to most listeners, and the MDR-J20 headphones deliver on that count, too. Each earpiece carries a powerful neodymium magnet that provides great sound at frequencies between 18 Hz and 22 kHz. Don't give in to poorly designed, bulky headphones that slow you down while exercising. The MDR-J20s, which weigh a mere 0.35 ounces, are a perfect fit. Less

Pros Inexpensive Over the Ear Design, reasonably comfortable
Cons Sound is OK, not fantastic
Recommended it? Yes

I've been looking for the ultimate set of headphones while working out for decades. Exercising is boring, so I started with a Walkman (listening to taped audio books) and evolved over the years to my current iPod (listening primarily to Podcasts - mostly from National Public Radio).

Pros no tangle cord! over-ear strap
Cons the sound quality is not constant, not very hard to break
Recommended it? No

I run a little. Jog is a more fitting term for what I do. I'm not one of those authentic joggers either... I run on a treadmill at the gym. I've got an Ipod Mini and I like to make 25 minute track lists while i'm warming up and then do my thing. Anyway... after seeing two magazine ads in one week... Read full review »

Cons Some people might not like the way they fit.
Recommended it? Yes

When it comes to headphones I am pretty tough on them; I use them at the gym, for running and while cleaning around the house. Most of the time the first thing to go is the jack that connects the CD player to the headphones, thankfully most of the MDR's from Sony have an "L" shaped... Read full review »

Ear Sweat - Worse to Experience than Read about?
I've been running on a treadmill at the Y, plugged into the television; it makes the time go by faster. Eventually I would pull off my headphones to readjust them and then have to submit myself to the disgusting feeling of putting cold, sweat... Read full review »
