Pros Sturdy construction, easy to follow on-screen menu
Cons no noticeable video improvements through HDMI, annoying pops from optical audio connection

I currently own DVP-NS975V unit which has been a good universal player except for its known firmware bugs (i.e. sudden tray-lock and very slow responses) in its earlier production run. Good-Great picture with HDMI but... Sony cheaped out a little for an ES piece. All the new silver ES pieces to this point had the new embossed SONY logo on the front panel which was very cool.
