With audiophile grade digital-to-analog converters, the audio from CD media comes through precise, pure, and clear of Distortion for extremely pleasing sound. Denon DCM-290 uses an easy to load and highly dependable CD mechanism that lets you load up to 5 CDs at a time. The DCM-290 lets you Program up to 32 tracks from the five or fewer CDs loaded in the player. In addition, you have selectable random and repeat play modes. The DCM-290 will play all commercially available CD recordings plus CDR and CDRW recordings made on a Component CD Recorder or Computer drive. As such, it will also play MP3 and WMA files that were downloaded from websites. If you are an audiophile, chances are you're way beyond the five disc CD changer, but for those who want to upgrade from the first multiple disc CD player they bought in the 80's without completely revamping their entire audio setup, Sony's SCD-CD595 5-Disc CD Changer is a great choice.

Pros Fine SACD, good redbook CD, inexpensive.
Cons Slow disc read and level change, remote lacks number buttons for direct track access.
Recommended it? Yes

Bought this SACD changer a few months ago, so now have good experience with it and a dozen classical and jazz SACD's. The SACD feature, with a SACD disc of course, in 2-channel mode, does seem to add some detail, naturalness and spaciousness compared to regular, "redbook" CD. Multichannel discs...
