Canon PowerShot A530 as Compared to the A520; Same box, Same body, A Few Differences

bypopsrocks Jan 5, 2007
70 Helpfuls 71 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Much like the A520 that has been good to us the last couple of years.
Cons A bit larger body camera and small LED than other comparably priced cameras.
Recommended it? Yes

My wife and I purchased a Canon PowerShot A520 Digital Camera for her the spring before last. She was quite happy with the camera but she needed another because she wants to use the Power Shot A520 exclusively with the camera club she runs at school. The new one will be her family camera that we... Read full review »

Canon PowerShot A530 5-Megapixel Digital Camera - Compact and Inexpensive

bydkozin Mar 27, 2006

Pros Uses 2 AA batteries, compact, 5MP, inexpensive, features, manual controls, image quality
Cons Slow flash recycle time
Recommended it? Yes

I am not a big fan of cameras that use 4 AA batteries, which is one of the reasons I consider cameras like Canon A610/A620 and S2 IS less than ideal. But I like cameras that use two AA batteries. Previously, you could only get up to 4MP resolution in this format from Canon (Canon PowerShot A520)... Read full review »

Pros Like the great Nikon D80 but incrementally better in many areas.
Cons Video mode is a little buggy and requires manual focus.

UPDATE 11/26/2009: I've owned this camera for over a year now, and I can only say that I'm still thrilled by it. My friend recently told me that I took the best photos at his wedding among the many people there with all sorts of high-powered digital cameras.  I credit this in part to luck (of...
