Pros Long battery life, image stabilization, low price, image quality, wide angle, compact
Cons Slightly higher noise than Canon SD700, black case prone smudges, LCD washes out in...

After using and selling the Canon SD700 IS, I have purchased the Panasonic DMC-FX01. The FX01 is similar to the Canon SD700: it has compact design, large LCD and optical image stabilization. The Canon SD700 is slightly more compact, the Panasonic FX01 has a wide angle lens and sells for $100 less... Read full review »

Pros Take-it-all-in wide angle: point and click almost always gets a useable picture.
Cons Relatively noisy (mostly chrominance), noticeable in large blowups. No zoom in movie mode.

I had been using my Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel for six years.  Thousands of photos had passed over its sensor.  I had watched as newer cameras steadily increased the number of pixels in the sensor and as steadily decreased the levels of light at which clean images could be... Read full review »

Pros Great camera for the price. Great video capability.
Cons Perfect for still camera. For video, still isn't ready for prime time.
Recommended it? Yes

For those wanting the bottom line first - This is a great digital slr camera in it's price range. It's also a decent video camera with HD potential in it.I'm a professional videographer and I too was following the digital video HDSLR revolution and wanted to jump on the bandwagon.
