Pros Excellent price, good lens with image stabilization, great for those new to the EOS line
Cons Lens does not utilize full sensor resolution, lens a bit slow, no true wide angle

Officially released on August 20th, and finally in select stores on the 30th (i.e. Ritz Cameras etc.), the 40D made waves way before official specs were released.
