30D vs. 20D? Are the differences worth another purchase?

bysuemccartin Jul 1, 2007
15 Helpfuls 16 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Canon Digic II sensor, 5 fps mode, iso 3200, improved white logic
Cons Pricey? Not a huge upgrade over a 20D
Recommended it? Yes

My first canon dslr was the original Rebel also known as the 300D, for its time and considering what that camera cost, it was competent but it can't hold a candle to a 20D and even less so to a 30D. I shoot a lot of karate for my school, the 300D Rebel only has 3 fps which just isn't enough for... Read full review »

Recommended it? Yes

Having used a 300D and a 10D, i hesitated a lot before getting hands on this camera.
I got it with a Canon f4.0-f5.6/17-85 EF-S IS zoom, found it in Sim Lim square in Singapore.
Improvements are not so important: the good things of the 20D are still there: very good image quality with its... Read full review »

Update 8/27/10

We love this camera but the automatic lens cover does NOT open fully when the camera is turned on.

Canon PowerShot SX110 IS 9-Megapixl Digital Camera with 10x Optical Stabilized Zoom

bydkozin Jan 6, 2009
42 Helpfuls 43 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Low price for features (for a Canon), good performance, image stabilization, 10x zoom
Cons Chromatic aberration, slow flash recycle, slightly soft corners, no viewfinder
Recommended it? Yes

It is difficult to "downgrade" from the mega-zoom camera to a compact point-and-shoot model. Having to forego 10x optical zoom after being able to zoom in dramatically is not fun. So the smaller mega-zoom cameras, such as Canon SX110 IS fill the niche between larger mega-zoom cameras with over 15x... Read full review »
