The Linksys Compact Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one small box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect both screaming fast Wireless-G (802.11g at 54Mbps) and Wireless-B (802.11b at 11Mbps) devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Connect four PCs directly, or attach more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. Once your computers are connected to the Router and the Internet, they can communicate with each other too, sharing a printer, digital music, picture and document files, and multi-player or on-line games. I work from my home and have a good bit of work to do every evening. The drill was always the same; come home, go for my run, shower, eat, head into my office and be gone for a good hour or two. It drove my wife nuts and we never saw each other until around nine in the evening. I thought of... Read full review »

Not worth it!

Pros Worked normally for about a year.
Cons When product (inevitably) fails, customer service does anything but serve the customers.
Recommended it? No

It worked fine for a year, disconnecting at random intervals like all routers, but not too much.  Then the problems began.  One day out of the blue, it would connect locally, but not to the Internet, no matter how many times I reset it.  My ISP walked me through all the troubleshooting they could,... Pros Looks very nice, understandable setup for basic wired connections
Cons Wireless connections more difficult, advanced settings may be too much for novices
Recommended it? Yes

My old Netgear wireless router, which had been running nonstop for about 6 years, finally died on me. It was a slow, painful death stretched out over several weeks, and in the end it needed to be replaced in a hurry. Doing some searching, I found the cheapest name-brand router locally was this... I've lost count on  the routers that I've gone through in the past few months, and frankly I was beginning to lose hope. Ever since I bought a new laptop with Vista Home Premium, I've had nothing but troubles when trying to network my PCs. It seems like every router I tried crashese immediately... Read full review »
