The World's Greatest Little Battery-Powered Portable Radio

byEd.Williamson Mar 15, 2003
50 Helpfuls 51 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Receives radio signals and converts them into sound you can...hear!
Cons Sometimes requires these little oblong things called AAA batteries.
Recommended it? Yes

I can remember when transistor radios first came out in America back in the 1950s. I was about 10 years old and I had an American Flyer-style big heavy fat-tire bicycle and I saw an advertisement for a bicycle with a built-in transistor radio in the crossbar section between the seat and the... Disappointing

bycfaulstick Dec 14, 2005
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Presets; small
Cons Reception poor; speaker tinny
Recommended it? No

I was very disappointed in this radio. Reception was poor. Pros First consumer HD radio. FREE reception. Quality. Completely static and hiss free...
Cons No digital or optical outputs. No bass/treble knobs. A bit pricey. 1 year warranty.
Recommended it? Yes

This is the very first HD Radio on the market. If the HD Radio prevails, this prpduct will be ubiquitous-- it will become a classic-- the Model T of the whole HD radio movement. If not, it will end up being a display at the retro technology museum.

First, what distinguishes the Recepter... Read full review »

5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Pretty case, AUX input
Cons Not reliable, poor reception with supplied antennas, failed within a week, poor service,...
Recommended it? No

Complex tangle of wires out of box. Poor HD reception with supplied antennas. But my Accurian HD receives all locals with same antennas in same location! After 5 days, Receptor lights up, but doesn't make a sound. Boston Acoustics unresponsive to emails. Toll call and long wait promises "return... Read full review »
