Volume and setting controls clumsy; LCD illumination is a little too much

I bought this product about 3 days ago so I've had some time to use it. I've used it to play music via the radio and IPod (I own the 30G IPod photo which works just fine). I've used the sleep timer function and the alarm function. I'm pretty familiar with what it does and some of its quirks.

I bought this sight unseen (without listening to it first) and only trusted the reviews I read all over the web. In particular, if you look at the reviews on the apple.com website, the comments are pretty positive and many times people compare this to the Bose Sounddock.

Outstanding sound. Doesn't take up much real estate. Excellent remote.
Cons
No nano adapters for docking port. A $2 plastic adapter would've been nice.

Yes
Best value, by far. Sounds as good as a Bose iPod dock costing about twice as much. Excellent bass response (actually had to tone down the bass a bit via the iPod), crisp highs. Compact size.
