Great for High Definition only

Pros: Good High Definition picture from High Definition sources
Cons: Non High Definition sources are almost unwatchable with shadows and blacks totally washing out.

The bottom line: I recommend you find another model to purchase.

I have owned the 62628 for three months. When viewing High Definition material from my High Definition capable cable box or viewing up-converted DVD movies the set is fantastic. During bright scenes, the picture is bright, the blacks are black. Dark scenes do cause a problem with washout in the area of blacks and shadows. With many new movies being shot dark, this is a problem.

With my X Box 360 or PS2 with High Definition cables, the picture is also fantastic.

The real problem is viewing a picture with a non High Definition signal like analog or digital cable. On a set this large, the picture is full of snow. Blacks, shadows and other dark images totally washout. I have tried turning the brightness all the way up and it helps somewhat. I do not think I should have to do this on a new set that cost $4,000.

I have a clear cable signal according to a recent service call by my cable company. The signal was measured with a digital device and is correct for low and high channels.

As long as most of the cable offerings are non-High Definition, this set is a problem and I view it as a poor investment of my money. I am working with the dealer now to attempt to return it.
