by Howard_Creech, lead in Electronics ,  Feb 3, 2005
Pros: 8 megapixels, DIGIC II, very fast, full manual exposure options, excellent battery life
Cons: Complex, images are a bit soft at default settings (but users can crank up sharpening)
The Bottom Line: The EOS 20D is well built and beautifully engineered, a genuinely viable option for anyone looking for a feature rich and reasonably priced digital SLR.

Shutter Lag 5/5 stars

by MaxWebster,  Dec 18, 2004
Pros: Low-light response; fast shutter; continuous shooting; accurate focus, color; fast startup; dual dials+mini-joystick; low noise.
Cons: Indoor WB; lack of WB, metering feedback; craving for expensive lenses; conspicuous; tricky 2-second timer.
The Bottom Line: If you're ready to get serious about photography and move to a DSLR, this camera will deliver top quality for years to come. It's an absolute delight to shoot with.

Shutter Lag 5/5 stars

Pros: Fast, fast, fast. Excellent image quality. Easy to use controls. SLR.
Cons: Poor indoor white balance. Heft & bulk might be a negative to some.
The Bottom Line: If you want a "real" camera and want digital, seriously consider the 20D.

Shutter Lag 5/5 stars

by suemccartin,  Aug 16, 2005
Pros: FAAAAAAAAAAAAST camera, large buffers, 5 fps, exposure control!, 3 shutter modes
Cons: Expensive, Canon tries to limit third-party products, no preview mode, no stitch mode
The Bottom Line: Torn between a Rebel & 20D? Save for the 20D now there's also 30D. All canon EF/EF-S lenses work with this body. Digic image sensor superior to other types.

Pros: Fast! Solid feel. Wide variety of available lenses.
Cons: Quality control is TERRIBLE. Small dim color LCD display. Heavy.
The Bottom Line: Excellent camera, terrible quality control, first 2 were defective. Buy at brick and mortar store with exchange capability if possible.

Pros: The "burst" feature that eliminates the "delay" between focusing and taking the photo.
Cons: LCD is small and you must have high capacity CF cards.
The Bottom Line: I am a compulsive researcher before I purchase anything and this camera does all I want it to and more.
