Pros: Very good image quality, 4X optical zoom, large 2.5" LCD screen, and AA batteries
Cons: Grainy LCD screen, redeye, some corner softness, and minor chromatic aberration (purple fringing)
The Bottom Line: The new Canon Powershot A540 Digital Camera provides an almost perfect balance of prosumer-like performance and creative versatility in a reasonably priced package.

Pros: Resolution, uses 2 AA batteries, size, features, manual controls, image quality
Cons: Slow flash recycle, noise at highest ISO settings
The Bottom Line: If you need a compact and inexpensive yet capable camera that produces excellent photos with print sizes of up 13x19 inches, has 4x optical zoom and uses two AA batteries...

Pros: Great picture quality, loads of settings, fantastic P&S, easy to use
Cons: Sometimes slow write speed on non-high speed SD cards
The Bottom Line: I definitely recommend this camera to all users. It's a great P&S, yet has tons of features for the more experienced photographer.

Pros: Good picture quality, movies with sound, AA batteries, good battery life, manual adjustments, optical viewfinder
Cons: LCD has low resolution and doesn't show purple, long flash recycle time
The Bottom Line: The Canon A540 represents an excellent choice in a point-and-shoot camera, with an optical viewfinder and a higher zoom level and more manual controls than most competing brands.

Pros: Light, easy to manage, user-friendly controls and wonderful results.
Cons: Chinzy plug cover and a useless 16MB card included in the retail box.
The Bottom Line: The latest incarnation of the Powershot A line. A worthwhile camera with many fun, easy to use and satisfying features and results.
