If you can't hold out any longer for that big-screen TV, but you don't want to break the bank on a digital set, you might consider Sony's KP-53S70. The KP-53S70 has a few picture-enhancement features. Foremost is the 3-line digital comb filter, although not as good as 3D-YC filters at eliminating artifacts, still beats an analog version. Sony also provides selectable color temperatures, which are worthwhile. ??For convenience buffs, Sony's dual-tuner PIP (picture-in-picture) lets you view one smaller picture within a larger one. The small box can be moved anywhere around the screen. Although it doesn't have the on-screen program guide found in some other sets, the KP-48S70 does let you label up to eight of your favorite channels. The supplied remote control isn't backlit but does operate other Sony gear. An audio system with 15 watts x 2 channels and matrix surround sound completes the package.
