A very good experience!!!

Full review

I would like to give some feedback to my first experience with TigerDirect. I read the reviews others had given, and while it’s true that every company will have some people who, for one reason or another, had an unpleasant experience. However, I decided to give them a shot.

Let me start with the website. The variety of products offered is very extensive. Their prices are great. I did find the laptop I ordered somewhere else for a little less (don’t know how I missed that to begin with), but still their prices are very good. If you’re not sure which model to buy, they have an option that says “Need Help Deciding?” which allows you to filter down to exactly the products you’re interested in.

I never needed to contact them for details on products, nor did I need to contact customer service, so I won’t comment on that.

One problem I came across consistently in the negative reviews dealt with the rebates. I used OnRebate, and I’m glad I did. For a small fee, in my case $5.50 for each of the two rebates I had, either you can get your check mailed within 3-5 business days upon receipt of the paperwork, or they guarantee to credit your PayPal account within 48 hours upon receipt of the paperwork. Well, they were true to their word. I received an e-mail saying that there was a status change in my rebate submission, with a direct link to my rebate submission. I then received confirmation e-mails that my PayPal account had been credited. I checked it and everything was correct.

There were a couple minor points that I didn’t like. First, and this may be a common practice among discount vendors online, but I couldn’t return my items directly to TigerDirect…I needed to deal with the manufacturers directly. Luckily, that wasn’t an issue in my case. As far as shipping, I opted for 2-day air, and I thought the amount was a little high, but I felt I was still getting a great deal. Speaking of 2-day air, my well-packaged order arrived as promised. The last thing is not really their fault. I ordered my laptop at 10:00pm one night, and it came with a $50 rebate. I was looking the next day, and I noticed they had added a special bonus $50 rebate that started the day after I purchased my laptop. I called to see if I would be eligible for the bonus rebate, and they said “no.” If I had waited 2 hours, I would have saved another $50. Oh well, as I said, it’s not really their fault.

I must say that I was pleased with my experience with TigerDirect. I was leery in doing business with them based on all the reviews, but I’m glad I did.
