Amazon.com is a super web store, in which their desire is to have every single product on the planet available - available in their store. They have partnered with big name companies such as Sephora, Drugstore.com, and Borders. When an internet user type in "http://www.border.com/" into the address bar in their browser, they will be automatically re-directed to the Borders webstore at Amazon.com.

Many online stores charge extensive shipping and handling rates for Hawaii consumers. Many of them do not give the choice of standard shipping or priority shipping. Most companies only provide 2 day air shipping for Hawaii consumers which most of us know can be quite expensive. These companies obviously are obviously not thinking of the demographics that most Hawaii consumers have. Do they not know the cost of living is already high? Do they not know that over half of the population in Hawaii is living paycheck to paycheck? Do they not know that the minimum wage is only $6.25 and with the cost of living being so high - its hard for most people to even keep a rented studio/apartment. (It is rare to find any studio to rent below $500). And yet they charge so much for shipping and don't give the option to choose standard or priority shipping (which is significantly cheaper than 2 day air).

This is why I praise those companies and (most likely) instantly become a committed customer to those that let us choose how we would like our products shipped.

Amazon.com has exceeded all my expectations. With their Free Shipping Super Saver program, I have saved on shipping for quite heavy products. I believe the program is promotional and is not a year round thing, however, I was able to take advantage of it this Christmas. My boyfriend wanted a WAHL 9953 body trimmer set and a book by Mark Rippetoe. He sent me the link for the body trimmers through a WAHL site and it was around $46.00. One night I was on Amazon.com for a school paper and decided to see if the trimmers were on the site. To my surprise it was - and it was cheaper ($25.00)! I immediately put it in my cart and then searched for the book, and found that too. When I went to check out I had seen that those products qualified for the Free Super Saver Shipping program, so I chose to go that route, where the products would arrive 5-9 days. I was fine with that because they were presents for Christmas. The products arrived before it had even passed 5 business days. I'm sure I was lucky and since I had ordered right before the Christmas rush had gotten into full swing. Nevertheless I was thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and the free shipping. I will probably always compare prices at Amazon.com before buying products at other places now.
