Most electronics can be hard to operate.  I love this Sony Handycam.  It is very easy to use and lightweight.  I purchased a back up battery as a back up so I'm never without power.  Sony is a named brand which makes me feel better about the price as it... Read full review »

Sony HDR-UX1 AVCHD 4MP High-Definition DVD Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom

Create high-definition DVDs directly from your camcorder with the HDR-UX1 Handycam. You call all the shots with DVD-R/-RW/+RW and +R DL media formats supported. Record every detail of every moment with the 10x Optical/80x Digital Zoom and Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* Lens. However, you'll be capturing more than just video with the 4.0 Megapixel Still image feature and Dolby Digital 5.1ch Audio Recording. After you've recorded everything, easily transfer and share with complete composite, component, USB 2.0 and HDMI connectivity. Capture, create, connect, and share in high-definition with the HDR-UX1. Sony's 1/3" ClearVID CMOS Sensor with 1990K (effective) Pixels provides stunning detail and clarity with exceptional video (up to 1080 lines of Horizontal Resolution - HD; 530 lines of Horizontal Resolution - SD) and still image performance. The Megapixel technology enhances your Digital videos and Digital still (3980K) photography performance. The DVD recording format, in both MPEG2 (SD) and AVCHD delivers Digital picture and sound quality comparable to that of MiniDV and High Defitition, but on DVD. Playback of these DVDs couldn't be simpler (depending upon the playback device used). After finalizing the disc in the camcorder, the disc can play back in most DVD Players (SD), computers, Blu-ray Disc players and even PlayStation 3 video game consoles. The HDR-UX1 is compatible with a variety of DVD formats allowing the ease of use and simplicity found in DVD Media. With DVD+RW media there is not a need to finalize the disc (minimum recording required). Simply remove the disc and insert the media into a compatible DVD Player. The 10x optical zoom helps to bring the action close up from far away. In addition, the 80x digital zoom interpolation means that extreme digital zooming is clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zooms.
