The Bottom Line:
Lower price point, but poor design.
I bought the Zire 72 in order to have a PDA to use mostly for contact lists and information, not for any computer power on its own, not even for email. So the basic function list and price point was what drew me to this model. And I had had a very positive prior experience with Palm products, as an early adaptor. But it is not worth the lower price point. I did not realize at the time I bought it that the Zire will not work with a keyboard. So the keyboard I had from a previous Palm PDA would not work with this one. First bummer. Then I had because of the non-standard OS, Garnit, finding software and games that would work with it. So bottom line, this non-standard Palm product is not worth the lower price point. I would go back to a more mainstream OS product from PALM in the future for purchases. The plastic 'carrying case' that came with it was a joke. It's a box; packaging for the sales shelf only. I had to buy a pocket cover/carrying case. The screen scratches easily, something I did not have trouble with for a prior Palm product. Palm: ditch this model and stick with your better products.
