Yamaha YSP-800 TV Speakers

With a Hitachi 46F500 46 inch HDTV monitor hooked up to a Comcast digital HD set top box it was time to do the same justice to sound quality as HD does to visual quality. I didn't want all the hassle of wires running every where and my wife didn't want speakers imposing on her interior design elements so welcome to Yamaha's YSP-800 surround sound projector. I mounted the unit on top of my TV. This required 2 small rubber shims to level the unit and make it secure. I don't have small kids around the house so I'm not worried about some-one running into the TV and knocking the unit off. If you have issues with small kids; mount the unit on a shelf or use the optional wall mount. I purchased a Yamaha YST-SW215 subwoofer with my YSP-800 and placed it in the front right hand corner about 7 ft away from the TV. Using Monster cables (Fiber Optic to the set-top box, Digital Coaxial to the Hitachi DVD player, and Monster Bass 300 to the sub woofer) I plugged every thing in.(About 15 minutes) It was now time to do the Auto Set Up. Plug in the supplied Microphone and follow the directions. Some rather cool sounds come from the unit during this phase but it only lasts for a couple of minutes. Hit the memory mode, un-plug the Mic and then enjoy the sound of Dolby 5.1 during your HDTV viewing. There is so much this unit can do that it is incredible! After one week I'm still playing around with the unit and the easy to use owners manual. Way cool surrond sound (Daytona 500 broadcast and the Olympic Games coverage) along with a handsome look makes this unit a perfect 10.
