This is not your cheap, entry level phone anymore!
Pros
Decent range, an impressive array of features, ease of use and oh yeh, cool styling!
Cons
Vtech had an almost perfect phone, but ruined it with a lousy battery.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Great phone overall and really makes my life a whole lot less agravating. A long list of features will keep you out of the phone market for a few years.
My first experience with this phone was when Bellsouth sent one with their logo on it. When I received my first bill for it, it promptly was returned as they had told me the phone was "just $30" not 6 (yes, 6) installments of $30!! Installments?!! On a phone?
Cars, houses, boats and sometimes education, maybe but NEVER will I pay installments on a phone no matter how cool or technologically advanced!
Enough of my rant about Bellsouth scamming me, I needed a replacement for the $180 phone that had, admittedly, some pretty cool features like
•
speaker phone on the handset.
•
10 number redial memory.
•
adjustable sound quality with it's built in little equalizer.
•
easy to use volume control in call.
•
intercom feature.
•
headphone jack
•
and an easy to use caller ID features which makes it nice and easy to save your Mom's phone number with a click of a button after she calls.
If you choose to buy this phone however, you will have to get voicemail service from your phone company as this has no built-in answering machine. For me, that was just one less plug in the wall and less clutter on the kitchen counter and for some strange reason, I was quite happy to toss my clunky ole' answering machine. The best news though was when I found out my new phone company Vonage, included it for no charge as they did caller ID. Many tel co's are competitive these days and these are becoming standard features. This phone even integrates with my Vonage voicemail and actually has a blinking blue LED light that flashes on the antenna (and base unit) when you have unheard voice messages. I come home, the little light is blinking, I hit speaker speed dial my own number (stored in the phone of course) enter my PIN and listen to my message wherever I am .usually "the study". I no longer have to lean over the kitchen counter and wait while my messages play out (You're right, I must be a popular guy!...*laugh). You need to call your buddy back? Just hit caller ID, scroll down to his entry and hit speaker and that's it! Need to call the kids to dinner? Hit intercom and you have a two way voice conversation to the family room or bedroom, wherever you leave the base or handset.
This is how a phone should be. Good range, easy to use, and expandable. My only con is that after just a few months of owning this phone, the "stand-by" time has been less than desirable. So for you people like myself who forget to find the base after a few calls, heads up!
