Good product with cripplingly bad product support

URC, the manufacturer, does not allow users to download software updates more recent than May 2007, unless the software is obtained from an "authorised" dealer. I purchased my remote on eBay. Obtaining a new or used remote from another user prevents you from obtaining the updated software and more importantly, the updated database of code needed to program remotes. This means that equipment purchased after May 2007 won't be in the database of remote codes obtainable online from URC. I'm not surprised to see eBay prices as low as approx. $350. The resale value of this remote is zero.
