I can hear you now - Uniden cordless phones sound good

Pros Clear sound, many features, headset capable, good battery life
Cons This may be more phone than needed
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would buy this phone again because of its good sound quality, long battery life, and comfortable feel in the hand.
My house is big enough that using a cordless phone is the only way to avoid having at least four extensions. In addition, I need to be able to hook up a headset to the phone so I can have my hands free to type or do housework while talking.

Over the years, I've tried several brands of cordless phones. None of them last that long, typically dying within a few months of the one year warranty provided. Some are impossible from the beginning, with such poor sound quality that I can't understand what people on the line are saying.

Uniden is the best I've found

I've found Uniden to be the most reliable, both in terms of good sound quality and longevity. In fact, it's the only brand I buy now. My current phone is the Uniden EXI4246, a 2.4 gigahertz phone with more features than I really need. I picked this model because it was on sale the day I was ready to buy.

Beyond the clear sound and ability to hook up a headset, the phone has several features I like. The volume is adjustable, which makes it easy to turn down folks who talk too loud or turn up soft talkers or calls suffering from poor connections. There is a choice of several ring tones of both high and low volume. Up to 10 frequently called numbers can be memorized and easily dialed. The phone has caller ID capability, but this was a feature I did not need and do not use.

Sometimes I need to use the phone for several hours in one day. The Uniden EXI4246 does a great job of holding its charge; I've never had to switch phones because of a low battery.

Although the phone is comfortable in my hand, I keep the headset attached almost all the time. The headset-phone connection is what typically fails on these phones. By leaving the headset attached, it seems to reduce the wear and tear, which helps both parts last longer.

Sometimes I hook the headset equipped phone to my belt with the belt clip so I can walk while talking hands free. The phone still gives solid, understandable communication even when I go outside. The useful range from the phone's base is more than adequate for my purposes.

When this phone dies, as they all do, its replacement will be another Uniden. I find these cordless phones to be superior to the other products available at similar prices.
