GREAT MACHINE........if you know how to use it
Pros
Great value, easy of use, great video quality, reliable, great features, writes on RAM
Cons
Can't write on CD-R and CD-RW
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Will definitely recommend. Stop wasting your hard earned money on cheap machines, buy this one, you'll never regret.
I bought this recorder 1 month ago from an online retailer (customer return item) for $ 85....what a steal.
What a great machine it is......since I have flawlessly recorded everything I desired, like old VHS movies, TV programs, recordings from DVR, old home videos from 8 mm camcorder and DVD movies from other DVD player.
I have successfully used various type of cheap unknown name DVD-R media and the few coasters I got, were due to my own mistake ( read my TIPS ).
I'm not going to go over the nice features of this unit because others have already mentioned so much about this machine that it will be just a waste of your valuable time. But, I would like to give some TIPS here for using this recorder in a more efficient way.
TIPS:
1. Read the manual well before even touching the unit. Manual becomes easy after 2-3 readings. Follow the manual it will make the recording process stress free.
2. Remember, its a very slow machine because it has its own brain (in the form of on-board memory) so it takes more time to process information than regular DVD player. If you be patient, it will follow your command. So have a lots of PATIENCE, otherwise this recorder is not for you.
3. If a DVD-R media is not recognized for the first time don't give up, insert it again and press play. This works for me....so far no coasters even with cheap unknown brand media.
4. When recording, keep the surrounding area well ventilated.....this machine does not work well in warm condition. This will prevent error messages.
5. Do not finalize the disc if you have just finished a 4-6 hrs of recording. Warm unit does not finalize the disc properly. You can finalize the disc when recorder is cool.
