Background Info:
I bought this TV because the NHL finally signed a contract with the NHLPA. Not the best reason, but sports in HD is amazing.

So, one Saturday I went out shopping for a DLP-HDTV. The night before I was at a friend's house watching the DC United in HD. Amazing. You... Read full review »

Pros Excellent color reproduction
Cons a little weak on black/gray contrast

I purchased the TV as an xmas present for my wife, and I and have been watching it for almost a month. I do not yet have the HD signal from the cable company installed, but can tell you that the majority of the channels on standard definition are still of high quality. DVD's are a step above that... Pros above average picture quality.
Cons bulb dies way too frequently (be ready to pay 300-400$ a year).
Recommended it? No

Decent TV overall and was satisfied with it until the light bulb died on me, 3 weeks after the warranty expired. I surfed the web and notice that tones of people had also the same problem 3 weeks or 6 months after they both the TV. Toshiba states that the bulb has an average lifetime of 8,000... Toshiba Customer Service:
Customer service at Toshiba is above par. I don't know what the h*ll I've read on other reviews being bad. I will admit that I talked to a few morons, & they did screw up one time, but the good experiences far outweighed the bad.

Repair:

Good choice in DLP TVs

bymfitts999 Feb 28, 2005

Pros reasonably portable, plenty of good AV connections, low fan noise, quick response tuner,
Cons nothing I have found yet. Will update if I find anything.
Recommended it? Yes

I found this TV after searching for a few months trying to find the best TV for the least amount of $$. I settled on DLP as I thought the picture was slightly better than the LCD, especially in the dark colors. I picked up the TV (make sure to take a truck, won't fit in an SUV, box is too tall)and... Pros Decent High Def picture, nice to look at, easy to use
Cons Lamp DOES NOT last 6000-8000 hrs as promised by Toshiba
Recommended it? No

TV just over 2 years old and 2 replacement lamps later! UGH! My last lamp ruptured after 1500 hrs of use, TV was out of commission for over 3 weeks. First impression was great, second impression owning this Toshiba rear projection DLP makes me want a Direct View LCD. Apparently, the direct view... Read full review »

Pros Good picture. Attractive set with nice and convenient features.
Cons Lamp life much too short! Replacement lamp is very expensive!

I have had this model for just over two years. I purchased this particular television because of the reputation of Toshiba and past experience with this brand. I gave careful consideration to the purchase because of the expense involved. A couple of weeks before my warranty expired, the lamp burned... Read full review »

Pros Excellent picture and durability
Cons Wish I had sprung for the 62" model
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this TV in November of 2004. I did a lot of research into HD display technology, and arrived at the conclusion that DLP was the best cost/benefit solution for me. Toshiba has built a quality product here. The set did arrive in "torch mode", with many of the picture settings (brightness,... Read full review »

Pros Great picture quality on hi def channels, light weight.
Cons Remote control is not very good, sound is marginal but adequate.
Recommended it? Yes

I had done some research on TVs for quite awhile and found that each type, plasma, LCD, DLP, and normal rear projection have advantages and disadvantages when compared to each other. Know these differences before you shop! Reduced glare is a very good quality of the DLP screen technology. I really... Read full review »
