Dream Machine! Dream On!

byfdmac Aug 28, 2006
Pros sleek design, and decent sound quality.
Cons LCD backlight is too bright for an Alarm clock.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Don't be fooled by it's sleek look
I bought this unit because I wanted to wake up to a CD rather than radio. This clock radio has some innovative features for an alarm clock. I have used nap timer frequently on Sunday afternoons, I can get a nice nap in without oversleeping and then being awake all night. The dual alarms are great as I am up a good 2 hours before my wife and we don't need separate alarm clocks; the best feature is being able to wake up to the music of your choice by setting it to play a CD. The unit has a very modern sleek appearance, with easy access to loading and removing cd's.

The only bad thing about this unit is LCD display is very bright, and can't be turned down enough to make it acceptable. I wear glasses and since the backlight is so strong I can't make out the digital display at night without putting my glasses on. The CD player makes a bit of noise when it starts to spin up when the alarm comes on. I hear this long before the music starts and am able to turn it off before the music starts, which kind of defeats the purpose of having the cd player. I miss not having a power back-up in the unit, one power bump and your sleeping in! I found this unit just did not live up to what I expected and ended up buying another Sony Alarm clock. This unit has since been moved to my office at work and works perfectly ad a small desktop CD player.
