Hello Sony? What were you thinking?!
Pros
Small, Easy Operation, Good Battery Life
Cons
Horrible sound quality - Not worth your $$$
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
If you're looking for a viable wireless-bluetooth solution for your communication needs, KEEP LOOKING ELSEWHERE.
Recently,
I acquired Sony's HBH-608 bluetooth wireless headset. Fortunately for me, it was for free. Upon activation of my PDA on a new account with Telus Mobility, I was given this "free gift". (Thanks FutureShop!) The question is, can I re-gift it? (a la Seinfeld!)
The Pro's
---------
1) The unit is relatively small. I'd say it's only a couple of inches long (at the most).
2) Easy operation with a volume control level ("+" & "-") and a connect/disconnect button.
3) The ear clip swivels so that the peice can be worn on either ear and it's easy to adjust ensuring a tight fit.
4) Battery life is fairly long. I charged it only once, used it for a week before it needed recharging.
The Cons
--------
For starters let's look at the actual component of the unit that fits into your ear (the speaker). No ear-peice padding came with the unit. How tacky is that? I mean, I realize you can buy this separately at a very cheap price, but come on....it should be a part of the pack! That's just common sense. Also after a while, the clip starts to hurt your ear. But the worst part about this unit is the sound quality. Talk about your cheesy units!
After you factor in normal daily background noises/sounds such as other people, traffic, etc. even if you have the volume cranked up all the way you will still find yourself uttering phrases such as "Excuse me?" or "I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" very often - TRUST ME!
Best case scenario ; You're sitting at home all alone, and it's dead quiet. Even then the sound quality is poor. The sound quality on this unit alone is enough of a reason to stay away from this horrible product. I'm actually afraid to research just how much it is they're ripping people off in charging them for this headset. I'd even go as far as to say that the wired mono-headset that was provided with my PDA (a Palm Treo 650) far outperforms this bluetooth abomniation. As a matter of fact, I've packed this "free gift" back into it's box and I'm using the wired headset.
Oh well, easy come - easy go!
