Bending and Mixing to Peer Pressure

Pros Sleek Look, Good Sound Quality
Cons Handle with Care...The swivel things crack and break after a year or two
Recommended it? Yes

If you've been around club-land or rave-land for any amount of time odds are you have seen a pair of these silver beauties donned by a DJ or two. Much like the Technics 1200 turntable the meme these headphones has generated has seemed powerful enough to make them the de facto headphones, at least... Read full review »

Pros small, lightweight, compact
Cons tend to tangle, lose sound in ear
Recommended it? Yes

the new sony headphones are excellent. small, compact and lightweight, they deliver full rich sounds, almost deafening bass and crisp clean highend. What every DJ needs in a headphone. I'd categorize these as more of a mobile headphone then a home use headphone. At times, getting tangled and even... Read full review »

Radical studio headphones!

Pros Great sounding, lots of bass, very comfy, and "stylin'"!
Cons a bit pricey, wires are hard to solder
Recommended it? Yes

I do a lot of home recording in my basement digital studio, and since there are other people living in the house, I realized I needed some pro headphones for mixing and mastering tunes in the wee hours. The cheapo headphones I had just didn't have enough bass for the task, so I set out to the local... Read full review »

Cons Build quality, ruggedness, lack of replacement parts

I am not a DJ but I do a heck of a lot of video editing. I also listen to music a lot and use them with my computer for the occasional video game. I shopped around a bit for a set of headphones that would fulfill all of these needs and decided on the MDR-V700. Because of their folding design and... Read full review »

Excellent headphones! Great for DJs

Pros Excellent sound, good quality. Built like a rock.
Cons Can be heavy and uncomfortable at times. Swivel is a serious problem but is fixable.
Recommended it? Yes

Finding a GOOD set of DJ headphones for a good price is tough. You can go cheap and get bad sound. And the high end ones can be ridiculously expensive. I think Sony has the happy medium here with the MDR-V700 DJ cans.

The best feature is definitely the sound quality. These phones are... Read full review »

To start things off i was noticing that some of these reviews are from 2000 2001 and sony has really changed their headphones. I had a pair of 700s back in 2001 2002 and they worked great the swivel mechanisms on it broke after about 2 years so i bought a pair of refurbished 2004's they work alot... Read full review »

MDR-V700DJ

Pros Very good value for professional headphones
Cons None other than there needs to be a protective cover/s for the jack/s.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the Sony headphones from the Sony Centre in Belfast (Northern Ireland). The product is very reasonable in price for the professionalism that it holds. The very handy two plugs in one is a very good idea as i have a mini hi-fi system with only the standard 3.5 mm jack. With this handy... Read full review »

Dance Floor Workhorse Built For DJs

Pros Loud, punchy, plenty of bass. Uber-cool look. Durable.
Cons Too tight. Quite heavy. Prolonged wearing brings headache.
Recommended it? Yes

Let me state the obvious: Not all professional headphones are created equal.

I've owned this pair of cans for 2 years, but it wasn't until I bought the AKG K240 Studio headphones, that I realized the MDR-V700DJ's capabilities. Sony markets these MDR-V700DJ headphones to, well, aspiring... Read full review »
