Expensive for such a mixed bag
Pros
Good output quality.
Cons
Violates user's legitimate Fair Educational Use copyright entitlements
Recommended it?
No
The titleing using the remote is a pain in the neck. The discs take nigh on to forever before they "load" for playback.
Quality, however is decent, although I learned the hard way you can't record on any DVD's except Sony DVD's, which is annoying as all-get-out.
Additionally the copy protect feature is offensive and violates the US Copyright law (i.e., "Fair Use") so plan on NOT being able to record virtually all the cable TV programming you might like to (even though you've paid for it and it falls under fair use, even educational use). So, like every other giant Corporate Crook enterprise out there, your rights are not supported by this machine.
Other than that, why spend so much money for what you get? I went through five other DVD recorder units that were cheaper and this was the best at the time. By now there're others, I'm sure of it.
