The Bottom Line:
Buy this vid-cam! It can make you look like a pro.
As a professed Sony Gadget Geek, I jumped all over this camera and pre purchased it before it was even available. I love this camera. I can take it on a trip and have 2MP digital video (60 min per tape) and 2MP digital pictures (saved to Sony's proprietary memory stick.) The software that comes with it is pretty impressive, which it should be because none of the other video editing software packages can read the MicroMV format. Minor distraction. This camera turned me into a video editing fiend and changed the face of our family videos forever. I was able to take 3.5 hours of video from Disney, mingle them with 300 digital pictures, add a soundtrack and write on to a DVD (with a little help from Dazzle.) What a quantum leap.
The only problem I have with this camera is the way you have to hold it. For some reason the strap and shape put you into this carpal tunnel inducing position that is hard to work around. the other gripe I have is the rediculous placement of the microphone on the TOP of the camera. I just don't get that and it is a problem when you are trying to get sound from any distance in front of you.
That is minor cheese compared to all the cool features and ring a ding whistles it has. This is the coolest vid-cam out there and picture quality is fantastic.
