Decent sounding CD player/changer-no frills!
Pros
Low priced changer with good, clear sound.
Cons
Slow mechanism and lightweight construction.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
You buy this machine for lost cost 2 channel sound with 5 disc capacity, nothing more.
This Cd changer was purchased as part of a budget system at Best Buy. The price was quite reasonable for $99.00. The sales person tried selling us a DVD changer for $20 more, but that was not what we wanted.
Time for a little rant.
If you are in the market for 2 channel audio you are limited to 3 choices.
New components are at the low end.Sony,Onkyo,Denon, and others still produce these components to keep the market open to them, but the profits are slim to none and are the cheapest made.
High end 2 channel stereo is doing quite well but this market caters to people with deep pockets. To spend $2000 on a CD player and $10,000 on a pair of speakers is common.
Used 2 channel stereo equipment is also a brisk business. Just look for vintage stereo components on Ebay. The prices can blow you away as components made during the 1960's thru 1980's were very well made and the advent of Ebay has opened up this portion of the market to thousands of buyers and sellers.Since these components are not being made anymore and there is a large demand, prices can get crazy.
Just use common sense on Ebay and always remember: Caveat Emptor with any used equipment purchased/traded sight unseen.
End of rant.
This Cd changer sounds nice, I mean it sounds clear and open
like a CD player should.
It will handle all CD's, commercially produced and CD-R/RW's with no problems.
It has a dedicated remote control with all functions as well as at the front panel.
There is no headphone jack.
There is the standard L/R outputs and a remote port for connecting to a Sony receiver with remote control.
It has 5 different shuffle modes and can play 1 disc while changing another.
Just plug it in and connect the audio leads and you're good to go. Simple and straight forward.
The construction of this machine, like most others in this price range is lightweight. The mechanism can be slow.
But if left on a stable surface should play fine for years to come.
