Very good Secondary phone

Pros Very Slim, Good Backlight, Very good range, Speaker phone function is actually useable.
Cons Short Battery life, Not comfortable for extended use, somewhat fragile feel. No Battery Life Indicator
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would not want this phone for my Home use; I like the comfort, ruggedness of my unidens. However, this phone Perfect for a secondary phone in my office.
First off, I bought this phone to be used in the conference center in the basement of a hospital. I'm the A/V Guy, and when setting up videoconference calls in other rooms, many time the far end party will call me in my office to troubleshoot if needed, and of course, I'm in the videoconference room waiting for a call so... This is a perfect phone for this type of use. Calls are short, the phone fits very easily in my shirt pocket and the range is surprisingly good for the environment it is being used in (Lots of Cement walls, Steel studded walls, Elevator shafts and wireless Networks). Also Cell phones do not work down here.

This phone is a DECT 6.0, so it works at 1.9 GHz frequency range and does not interfere with 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz Wireless networks.

The ringer can be muted, and the backlight will come on when an incoming call comes in, so it can be discrete if needed. The Caller ID will let you see whose calling, Plus the screen on the phone will let me know If I have a Voicemail on my primary office phone (This GE Cordless does not have the built-in Answering machine)

Yesterday, I was in a meeting with 3 other people when, it was suggested that we contact another person, I whipped out my phone, and put the person on the other end on speaker phone, we talked to him for about half an hour. After the call, the 3 others were all inquiring about my phone. They were all surprised at how well it functioned as a speaker phone for such a slim design. The speaker is on the back, so it helps to lay the phone flat down on the table and just lift the end of the phone just a bit with something like a pen or pencil.

The very slim design however limits the size of the battery, so battery life is relatively short, compared with my Home Unidens which have close to a full 7 days of Battery life, this one is good for about 2, maybe 3 days at most. But, I just put it back in the charger before I leave my office everyday. Plus, the slim design, makes for an uncomfortable design on extended calls, but like I said, I use it for short calls only, unless it is on speakerphone.

It seems kind of flimsy, but I did drop it on a tile floor 4 or 5 times already without any problems.

All in all, this is the perfect phone for my use: Commercial Surroundings with heavy duty walls and high potential for interference.

The sound quality is adequate for my use. Functions have surpassed my expectations. It draws more attention and inquiries from other people than I like but hey....

I found that the price for this phone (DECT 6.0) was very good for all the functions and slim design.
