The Bottom Line:
This 3-way speaker system makes more noise than music. Just trade up to real speakers, you'll be glad you did.
These speakers are sub-standard even for the relatively low price.
Hooked up to a good Kenwood Amp, they produce a boomy, roary bass that generally overcomes the mid range and tweeter speakers. These speakers are extremely directional in that you must be placed perfectly between them or there are things in the mid range and high end that you just will not hear.
I played around with the amp settings and speaker position and could do no better. At one point, I actually took a speaker grille off and put my ear against the tweeter to see if it worked. The tweeters are very weak and the crossover network in these units is so bad that most of what should come out of the tweeter plays through the mid range driver.
Overall the sound is rough and poorly defined. The voices heard through the mid range drivers are flat sounding and cannot be improved by settings or position. The whole mess is compounded by a thin cabinet wall design that takes off with unwanted reverberation.
I exchanged two sets before even playing them because of squashed cabinet corners right out of the shipping box. I returned them for a set of Polk M20 towers which blow these away for only $70 more per pair.
Don't waste any gas chasing these. The sound quality is poor and cannot be justified even at a low price.
