Great for Pro Photographers - worth it's weight in gold!

Pros Fast, reliable, clear picture, large screen
Cons Pricey, can't zoom RAW files
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This device is made for photographers and does a GREAT job storing large JPG and RAW images.
I shoot weddings, so I've been looking for digital storage like the EPSON P2000 for a while. The screen is large (3.8 inches to be exact) and the battery life is longer than ALL other units you can buy short of a laptop. I purchased an extra battery since some weddings lasts longer and I need the insurance of knowing I won't lose my visuals.

The menu is very simple; I was very concerned with the utilities for coping Compact Flash cards. I have my wife assist me with the weddings I shoot and want to make sure she has no complicated procedures. Insert the card, scroll over with the 4 way scroll mechanism to the correct menu item (Memory Card), press the OK button and choose copy memory card to device.

You have option of copying or moving your files to the device. I prefer moving files from my existing memory card, this way I know if I go to use a card, if it's empty, it's been dumped to my EPSON.

I shoot a Nikon D1X in RAW format when I shoot weddings, so reading RAW files is important to me. The EPSON P2000 can read RAW Nikon NEF files with no problem, you can't zoom in on them, but you can view them with ease and it's fast!

I like the fact that I can show my clients their pictures without holding my camera up to their faces - kinda like a digital folio - I just make sure I wrap the handy carry strap around their wrist so they can't drop it...

:)

Moving files to your computer couldn't be any better. USB 2.0 throughput makes your file movement process fast as lightning.

The EPSON p2000 can also hook up to your COMP video input on your television... I only tried this once and it worked fine, but most digital cameras do this... I don't need it but it's nice to know I can.

When viewing JPG images, you can zoom in very close and get GREAT details.

Movie playback is awesome, it plays crystal clear videos even though the sound leaves a little to be desired... BUT... that's not what I bought it for!

Overall, for what I use it for, it is the best out there. I can move my files over to this SMALL device and continue using my memory cards. 40 gigs, that's a lot of pictures.
