DIVX playback on the cheap
Well, DVD players have finally become VCRs; you can get a DVD player for under $10 (I saw a stack of super-slim players last year on clearance for $6.99 each) and basic recorders for under $50. So unless you're getting something super fancy, you shouldn't pay more than $50 for a DVD player, right?... Read full review »
Great picture on large screen TV
The new Philips DVP5140 NTSC/PAL dvd player may be a worthwhile upgrade to the popular Philips DVP642. The Philips DVP5140 produces a better picture than the DVP642. The DVP5140 is "DivX Ultra" certified. The DVP5140 is an excellent example of Philips "plays it all" DVD players.

Great, inexpensive DVD player
I am not a techie when it comes to DVD players. I know that this DVD player is a 12 bit player (as opposed to a 10 bit player) and that it has some very impressive stats for a $50 DVD player. However, if you're looking for a techie review, this isn't on of those.
