The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend this television to a friend.
I purchased this product 13 months ago and have had two bulbs blow out; one every 5-6 months. If it had not been under warranty it would have cost me $630.00 to purchase new bulbs. Panasonic's owners manual says the bulbs should last 10,000 hours. When you get a replacement bulb they only warrant the new bulb for 12 months which is way less then 10,000 hours of use. Fortunately, I got mine at Costco and they told me to bring it back. They said they had received a lot of complaints. After two bulbs failing Panasonic is sending a tech to check the ballast but since they won't extend the warranty I am returning it. Also, wait time on the phone for warranty service is 30-65 minutes and their people read canned answers from a script. They clearly don't want the set returned to the dealer but since their own literature states a 10,000 hour bulb life, I am pretty certain you could take them to small claims court and win. You made your purchase based on false claims and misrepresentations from Panasonic. You would have nothing to loose in doing so. When it works it is a great television.
