Cons Speakers

After conducting a lot of research on tv's, I finally decided to purchase the Panasonic PT-45LC12.

I have a fairly narrow game room that I wanted to put a tv and surround sound system into. I was immediately attracted to this LCD TV as it is only 16" deep. Plasma tv's would also fit into... Read full review »

Toxic bulb when it brakes (and it does frequently)

Pros Good picture, great resolution.
Cons Gray blacks, limited bulb life (with mercury inside), thermal fuse problems in ballast,...

Panasonic PT-45LC12 is a 45 inch HDTV-ready LCD rear projection TV set.  These LCD rear projection sets used to be good alternatives to plasma TV sets when I bought this in 2003.  Now plasma and LCD TVs are much cheaper of course and the best bet.  A few people still use this like myself and I... Being ready to exchange our 7 year old 32" Panasonic with a big-screen we researched all aspects of cost / feature and pro-and-cons of buying standard TV, standard rear-projection and Plasma Monitors on the Internet and locally.

After seeing all the various models (and prices!) locally,... Read full review »

Breathtaking Picture for LCD projection

byscottyk924 Oct 7, 2002
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Sharp Picture, VGA Input, No Picture Burn in
Cons Looks Like a video Boombox
Recommended it? Yes

This TV uses LCD projection technology. It has a single halogen lamp in the back rather than having 3 tubes that each project a different color intensity converging into one point. This means that you do not have to do convergence like you would on traditional rear-projection tvs. Also, this tv is... Read full review »

Pros Clean picture, shallow cabinet, no burn-in, great picture from digital source
Cons Not as great picture from non-digital source

The decision to buy a big screen TV is hard. There are a lot of choices and a lot of opinions. I labored over this one for a while. My reason for going with the Panasonic LCD projection was because I was really impressed with the picture in the store and I didn't want to worry about burn-in. CRT... Read full review »

Buyer beware ... don't buy this!

byjltaylor56 Dec 14, 2007

Pros very nice picture, light-weight, comparable to others in size and picture quality
Cons I've dumped $1000 in maint. and repairs after paying $3000 for the tv; unacceptable.
Recommended it? No

I've had the PT-45LC12 for less than 5 years and I'm on my 3rd lamp ($300 each). I get about 1500-2000 hrs out of the lamp, and then I go back into my pocket to dish out another $300 for a new one. Panasonic claims 5000-10000 hrs of lamp life for the set. Unfortunately my set was not covered in a... Read full review »

Pros Excellent picture, small size, lightweight
Cons None

I just purchased this TV online for only $1,899. The picture is incredible, comparable to DLP TVs. And, unlike CRT projection TVs, being an LCD projection TV you will not have images "burn" into the screen if you play video games to often or keep the TV image on pause. Also, you don't have... Expensive to maintain, AVOID THIS TV !!

byjoekuul Feb 4, 2005

Pros Very light, easy for the repair guy to move around.
Cons Poorly designed unit, with a major flaw - the bulb.
Recommended it? No

I purchased my PT-45LC12 from P.C. Richard & Sons and FORTUNATELY for me, I also purchased a 5-year warranty at the same time! I am sure glad I did! Every 5 months, like clockwork, the bulb burns out. A $300.00 bulb. I call for service, and a repair guy comes about 3-4 days later to replace the... Read full review »
