The Bottom Line:
You will take more photos because of the size and ease of use!
Having been in photography for years, I resisted a point and shoot for years. I have been through digital cameras from the start. Each time I am amazed at the level of advancement. To compare similar cameras I started with the Casio and got the Lumix about a year ago, and wow , a difference in low light, macro focus and auto settings makes snaps shots into very good photographs.
I now use my Lumix more than my multi lens Canon just because for 80% of my photo use which is putting photos on the net for blogs and ebay, The Lumix is as good and considering the easy of shooting the pix, a hard to beat comparison.
I have just purchase my 3 Lumix in two years, each time for an upgrade reason and my wife wanting my handmedown camera. This HD lumix does great videos which I posted on my blog and they match and exceed videos done on standalone dedicated cameras. All in all the features and easy of use I fell that my SLR will gather dust because of the inconvenience of the size differential.
The down side is the battery life, but I just purchase a spare battery for 20 bucks and that solves that issue. The set up is easy, as well as the consistency of operations from the previous Lumix cameras made this one a open box and shoot great photos in minutes camera.
My kind of lazyman's camera.
