Pros Lots of features, high tech look and feel, good sound quality, secure signal.
Cons Tinny sound when using mic, battery dies fast, limited recording time on answering...
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the Panasonic KX-TG2583S (Silver color) after trying and returning several other cordless phones. While this was the best of the group I tried, I am still not entirely satisfied with it.

I now have a home based office and when not on the road, spend a good part of my day... Read full review »

This is the best...don't worry...I tried everything else

Pros Dual ID w/Answer mach, Range, Clarity
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes

OK, so what do you want in a phone? To me the most important thing by far is clarity. I absolutely detest static when I'm talking. I went out and bought several different phones. I tried everything at Best Buy, a couple at Target, one at HH Gregg. I was getting thoroughly frustrated with the... Read full review »

Gigarange Extreme versus Gigarange Elite

bytype-a Apr 16, 2002
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros range, clarity, durability
Cons limited answering machine functions, not quite wall mountable
Recommended it? Yes

Background: I first tried to go with an inexpensive KXTC-1703b "900MHz digital phone"--note that it didn't say "digital spread spectrum." I found I couldn't get out of my apartment (down the hall: no. Through the metal storm door: heck no. Down the metal stairs: laughable). So I went nuts and... Read full review »

Worth every penny!

byDoReDeb Jan 26, 2002
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Clarity, awesome feature set, construction
Cons Programming is a little more technical than other phones
Recommended it? Yes

Let's face it, a phone system at this price is an investment. Like other cordless phone reviewers, I, too, had to go through a trial and error process to find a phone I could live with. Not an easy task when you consider you have to take the time to program each phone you try, and then have to get... Read full review »

Pros Great Range, Excellent Sleek Look, and the best cordless phone I have ever owned!
Cons The Button Labels wore off after about one month.
Recommended it? Yes

I have owned this amazing phone for about two years now and it was well worth the price I payed for it! When it first came out, it cost me about $280 Canadian, however I have gotten so much use out of it that it was worth every cent.
I believe that it has the best reception that I have ever... Read full review »

Pros Toughness, Reliability, Range, Good value, Lasts a long time, Good security, Handset...
Cons Needs a battery every 2 years, Don't pick up handset by antenna it comes loose
Recommended it? Yes

This phone is the best phone we've ever had. I was always buying inexpensive cordless phones that never lasted long. But I was at work and I got a great deal on this one 4 or 5 years ago when it was selling for around $200. I couldn't believe why anyone would spend that much on a phone, but now I... Pros Excellent reception and features
Cons Does not work with other Panasonic phone systems
Recommended it? Yes

I have bought five of these phones. In fact, I will not buy any other phone. This phone has the BEST reception and does not cut out like all the other phones I have bought in the past. It is also very durable. It has been dropped several times by my kids and still works flawlessly. I have also... Read full review »

So so

byprcarp Feb 9, 2003
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Nice design, decent clarity
Cons Can't store long numbers, interference with wireless networks.
Recommended it? No

I looked hard and long for a decent cordless phone and for the most part, had decent luck with Panasonics. I had a KX-TC1870 but after a few years, the phone started having issues where it would ring, but I couldn't get it to answer. Unplugging it and plugging it back in would cause a software... Considering the KX-TG2583W?

bycmatlock Dec 1, 2002
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Style, features
Cons Battery doesn't last
Recommended it? No

We have had this phone for three months, maybe four. If we had only kept our Target receipt, this phone would have been taken back.

The Pros:

The phone has some nice features. The phone even looks nice. The Caller ID is easy to read. The buttons are backlit. The phone is white... Read full review »

Svelte phone/answerer

byaudiophileguy Dec 19, 2001
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Solid build, splash- and shock-resistant, dual keypads, speakerphone
Cons interference when using an optional mic headset, a bit pricey.
Recommended it? Yes

Oddly enough, one of the things that most attracted me to this phone was that it is headset-compatible, which my old cordless is not. Headset-compatibility isn't exactly a rare thing on cordless phones nowadays, but I also needed a new answerer and wanted to try out the "latest and greatest" phone... Read full review »
