Pros Light-weight, easy to use, compact, simple setup, fast charge on the battery.
Cons Poor quality in low light, unacceptable pixelation & grainy film in good light.
Recommended it? No

I bought this camera for $250 on Black Friday. It was replacing an old Sony 8mm. After much research it seemed that Mini DV was the way to go.

Pros Size, price, quality, photo shot feature
Cons Low light video quality isn't that great

My wife finally pushed hard enough to get me to upgrade from our Hi8 big camcorder to a new Mini DV camcorder. I did quite a bit of research...looked at Sony, Canon, JVC and Pansonic primarily. Decided I didn't like the Sony's because of the touch screen and also the proprietary memory stick.

Pros size.
Cons everything

this camera is good if you outdoors and in good light. otherwise forget it. low light is exaggerated to darker. the light is good for subjects only a 2.5 feet away. and the light makes everything blueish and the white stabilizer doesn't correct it. the so called "Night Shot" is just a stupid...
