OPTOMA stands by their product

Pros good picture, good size for such a large set.
Cons No extended warranty available. Integrated Color engine.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  If OPTOMA continues to stand by this product, even after being discontinued, then that would be great. Time will tell how true to tale OPTOMA really is.
After reading these reviews, I felt disheartened when my 2nd RD65 went crazy. The first was replaced after 9 months do to some wierd electrical mal function without any issues. The second one, after a year and five months, the color engine began whinning. After failed attempts at contacting OPTOMA, I finally got a phone call, yes a phone call, from a gentleman who was the VP of Marketing for them. I explained my tale of woe and how it was ridiculous that a TV as expensive as the RD65 had such rotton durability and that I would expect a company should want to stand behind such a product. I exlained to him that I was unable to get an extended warranty for this product at time of purchase from OPTOMA (Not available for this item) or from any other outside source. He agreed and offered me a "third" replacement set at no cost to me. What more could I ask for. All I will say, you need to keep hounding these guys, and you will get results. NO ONE like to read that their product sucks and that a company that is as highly regarded as OPTOMA for their projectors, does not want a negative image. I even notified the local news guys that do the consumer advocacy stuff of what had happened and they too were impressed.

As far as the TV is concerned, The picture is still pretty damn good, I have to say. I DON'T use the speakers as it is channelled through my home theater system....which too, I may say is pretty damn good as well.

I don't use the remote ( which sucks for a set this expensive) and opted to use my Marantz remote that controls everything.
All in all,,,, its been frustrating...but.. in the long run, OPTOMA did stand by their product....THIRD TIMES A CHARM>>>I HOPE.
